Frontline BioEnergy is engineering revolutionary technology and installing industrial systems in the renewable energy industry. Frontline’s equipment and the associated projects convert low-value feedstocks into renewable, carbon negative chemicals and fuels. We seek an experienced senior mechanical engineer to assist in the engineering, design, and installation of industrial equipment. Come join our dynamic, growing team!

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will: i) collaborate with and lead a team of mechanical engineers and designers in the specification, test, and design of mechanical components, industrial equipment, and systems; ii) be responsible for the design of structural systems, ASME pressure vessels, process and pressure piping, rotating equipment, and other processing equipment; and iii) support procurement, fabrication, and assembly of large renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor for engineering design and analysis of chemical and thermal processes
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers to execute on multiple, major projects
  • Perform engineering calculations to support detailed engineering and specification of structural systems, ASME pressure vessels, process and power piping (including thermal and stress analysis), and rotating equipment
  • Oversee and/or create design and construction specifications for fabrication and erection of vessels, heat exchangers, piping, and equipment
  • Specify equipment, identify suppliers and fabricators, review quotes, and manage suppliers and schedules to ensure high-quality, on-time installation
  • Support or lead project management to facilitate process implementation and promote successful project execution
  • Support project site activities such as commissioning and plant start-up
  • Problem identification and troubleshooting a variety of mechanical issues
  • Collaborate with teammates, suppliers, and customers throughout the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up process.

Essential qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience in engineering design and documentation for fabrication, construction, and installation of industrial-scale equipment, systems, and plants
  • Solid understanding of large-scale construction processes and procedures, standard fabrication processes for pressure vessels, piping, sheet metal, machined parts, and weldments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be highly motivated, teachable, detail-oriented and committed to meeting customer needs
  • Successful experience leading a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Desired qualifications:

  • Analysis experience in thermal transfer, fluid flow, and mechanical stress
  • Experience with refractory lined vessels, high temperature reaction equipment, fluid bed reactors, boilers, large support structures, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchanger systems, piping, and solid material handling equipment
  • Able to multi-task, working with several engineers and designers on multiple projects
  • Demonstrated initiative and drive to complete tasks well, and to anticipate and solve problems with little supervision
